The Millennium Kneelers were created for this millennium by the needlework skills of members of several churches in Taunton.
The Creation and Fall of Man
Genesis Chapters 1, 2 and 3
The Lord planted a garden eastward of Eden. There He formed Adam (the first man) and Eve (the first woman). The beautiful garden was His gift to them. He only asked of them on thing, “do not eat the fruit from one particular tree.” The disobeyed and caused the fall of man.

Abraham and Isaac
Genesis Chapter 22
The Angel of the Lord calls Abraham from heaven. He sees the replacement sacrifice; a ram caught in a thicket. God had rewarded him for his faith and obedience. Abraham reaches to heaven and praises the Lord.

Birth of Jesus
Luke Chapter 2 Verse 9
“I am the root and offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star” (words of Jesus from Revelation Chapter 22 verse 16)The Angel announces the coming of Christ represented by the Star. The shadow of the Cross falls from the Star upon the earth. The rainbow is symbolic of the covenant made between God and the earth (Genesis Chapter 9 verse 13).

John Chapter 19 Verses 28 – 37
The cross is set in the crown of thorns surrounded by sprigs of hyssop (used for the soured wine). St Michael bows in homage to the price Christ paid for mankind.

John Chapter 20
The angel pushes away the stone. The empty tomb behind signifies the passing away of sorrow. The second angel holds a spring of myrrh taken from the floor of the tomb. Great Joy will replace sadness for behind the angel lies a new dawn. God blesses the morning; a new Tree of Life has sprung from the earth. Three white shapes on the centre of the stone represents the Trinity.

The Day of Pentecost
Acts Chapter 2 Verses 1 – 4
“Now when the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. Suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance”.

The Road to Damascus and The Conversion of Paul
Acts Chapter 9 Verses 1 – 5
Saul was on his journey to Damascus carrying letters from the High Priest and Council of Elders in Jerusalem. He had been instructed to bring back in chains, the followers of Jesus.
As he approached Damascus about noon, suddenly a great light from heaven shone around him, he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying “Saul, Saul why are you persecuting Me?” Saul answered, “Who are you Lord?” and the voice said “I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting”.

The Last Judgement
Revelation Chapter 12 verses 7 - 9
A war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought the dragon (Satan) and his followers. They were cast from heaven to earth.
Revelation Chapter 22 verses 1 - 2
John was shown a vision. A pure river of water of life, preceding the throne of God and the Lamb. On either side of the river was a Tree of Life, which bore twelve fruits. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
Isaiah Chapter 11 verses 6 – 9
Isaiah had a vision of the world where all God’s creatures would live in harmony with one another and children would play happily beside them. The child’s rainbow dress represents God’s covenant with His people.
